Helping a Local Daisy Troop Earn Their Earth Day Patch

Last week, Talia, a CUGB volunteer, and I went to Riverside to help a local Daisy troop with their Earth Day cleanup. We spent about 30 minutes walking through the forest preserve near the Des Plaines River. All the girls were so excited to pickup trash and they were even comparing who had the coolest and biggest piece of trash! Some notable finds (according to the Daisies) were a toy soldier and a huge, old metal rod. Afterwards, while I weighed 25.4 pounds of trash, each Daisy guessed how much we collected. The closest guess was gifted a box of Thin Mints! And, as they were all leaving, each Daisy received an Earth Day patch for all their hard work.

Thanks for inviting us to be a part of your project, Daisies! We're so proud of you!
